After the success of  Smau in London, Flick on food is proud to present immersive 360°  videos about 2 outstanding products–the pink asparagus of Mezzago and Microgreens.

On Sunday May 13th from 10am at Palazzo Archinti di Mezzago, during the Pink Asparagus Festival, you’ll have the chance to try out a unique experience centered on 2 outstanding products

Milan 7 May 2018 –  FLICK ON FOOD was created in 2016 as a spin-off of the agency Dotfarm, but it soon became the main focal point. It started in London and was developed in Italy through the work of the 2 founders: Michela Di Nuzzo and Leo Mauriello. The free app is available in the app stores for iOS and Android, in Italian and English.

It’s the first digital product dedicated to the world of FOOD. A true multi-platform experience, (web, mobile, augmented reality), it serves millennial farmers – the new producers who feel a growing need to better their businesses through technology. And in particular, it helps to communicate more directly with millennial foodies (travelers who love food-related experiences).

It’s a great opportunity for producers. It gives them a channel for global visibility, and takes full advantage of the potential that technology and digital tools offer to bridge the current gap between the food industry and today’s consumers.

We started in Italy to showcase the richness of its one-of-a-kind gastronomic heritage, and we do this by giving visibility to exclusive local varieties, like the pink asparagus of Mezzago in the province of Monza and Brianza. Why is it pink? Our app and 360° videos explain it all: it’s an immersive journey into the process of cultivation and production.

On Sunday May 13th from 10am at Palazzo Archinti di Mezzago, during the Pink Asparagus Festival, you’ll have the chance to try out a unique experience centered on 2 outstanding products—pink asparagus and microgreens. The sneak preview at Smau in London was met with great enthusiasm, so we’re excited to bring it back to its roots.

The idea for Microgreens came from Marta Crippa and her brother in law William Thake from the US. In Mezzago they’re growing microgreens—that is, plants that are picked before they fully develop, in the phase immediately following the first sprouts. These are perfect for creating dishes with an extra wow factor, and they also offer extensive nutritional benefits.

The time has come that the new generation of farmers (a number that’s constantly growing) are looking for direct communication channels with their target customers. And they’re taking full advantage of the potential of VR and the new ‘farming 4.0’ industry.

“We should be world leaders for food, local varieties, and the story of Italian companies,” says cofounder Michela Di Nuzzo. She adds that knowledge of local varieties is fundamental for promoting the country’s rich heritage.

“We want to urge producers to see themselves as points of contact so the regions become welcome centers for international tourism and hubs for further promoting local products. If this happens, automatically Italian quality will no longer be dependent on the logistics of large distribution systems,” explains cofounder Leo Mauriello.
